Petticoat Junction - Every girl needs to "swoosh"

Posted on 27 August 2016

For years I've been oblivious to the world of swing skirts and dress. Draping my curves with figure hugging wiggle skirts and frocks and never really stepping outside my comfort zone. But in the last year or two I've discovered the brilliance of a the swing/full style and the wonderful twirling fun they can be. The fit, the flare and the flattering shape they create, I was a fool not to fall for these amazing styles long ago.
However I do have one rule when it comes to wearing a full style skirt that I swear by - Petticoats! A petticoat is the icing on the cake (possibly a reverse cake) when it comes to your outfit. Many of the fuller style skirt and dresses achieve their ideal look when worn with a petticoat or crinoline and I wanted to share my current favorites with you.
Cherri Lane Organza Petticoat - $39.99
Is black boring you? Why not try a dark purple shade beneath your swing skirts. The rich tone is a great change from basic black and the styling possibilities are endless. I'd love to pick this up and wear it with spring floral's and summer dresses.
Number 2 on my must have petticoats is an always bright and bold shade of red. I have both the black and the red petticoats shown here and they are a dream to wear. Available in to sizes XS-M and L to XXL they have two sheer layers of letting that give shape and fullness to your dresses and skirts. I wear the XS-L and I find that it's fine for my XL size waist.

Banned Super soft 20 inch Lifeforms Petticoat White - $64.99
There are 3 main petticoats needed in every pinups wardrobe black, red and white. These 3 colors pair with multiple patterns and colors and will be your go to styles all year round. So first timers I recommend you start with a white long petticoat. Each style shown in this blog is from Hell Bunny and they are the only styles I trust and own! They are always the perfect length for all my reproduction dresses and skirts and the black pairs wonderfully with bright reds, pinks, greens, and heaps of florals.
What petticoats do you have in your collection? Do you have a dream shade you'd like to have in your wardrobe?
